Mediterranean tree frog: illustrated description

  • A Mediterranean tree frog is 6.5-cm-long in average.
  • Horizontal pupils.
  • Rounded snout.
  • Its skin is soft (there are no warts unlike toads).
  • The skin of a Mediterranean tree frog is usually vibrant green, but you can also come accross yellowish or even brownish ones (and even blue in case of depigmentation)
  • Unlike the common tree frog, the Mediterranean tree frog doesn’t have any dark lines along its flanks.
  • Fingers and toes wear suction cups.
  • Mediterranean tree frogs might be a bit translucent (mostly around their fingers and toes).
  • The Mediterranean tree frog mostlyl eats insects, larvae, molluscs and spiders.
  • Its main predators are: grass snakes and cattle egrets.
